FAQs

We interview all our tutors as part of a rigorous selection process. We check academic qualifications, certificates and identity documents. We also require an original Enhanced Disclosure from the DBS, not more than three years old. We take up full reference checks and only retain tutors who receive positive client and student feedback.

Most of our tutors are highly experienced and qualified teachers. For tutors who are non-teachers, they are highly educated and qualified in their field.

During the initial consultation, we take the time to understand your child’s needs and goals. We then carefully match them to the right tutor for your child to ensure a happy and successful partnership.

Tuition can be delivered online or in person at your home or our offices.

Generally, we suggest tuition should occur weekly to ensure consistency and progress; however, this can differ depending on your goals which will be discussed in our consultation.

Generally, homework is set at the end of the lesson to be completed for the next lesson. Please discuss this with your tutor if you would like different arrangements.

After each lesson a short report is written by your tutor. You will then receive a longer, more comprehensive formal report at the end of each academic term.

Your tutor is your main point of contact once tuition has begun. Your tutor is supported by Head of Primary Tuition and Head of Secondary Provision who will also be a key contact for you.

Dukes Tutoring will operate safeguarding procedures in line with our locally agreed multiagency safeguarding arrangements put in place by our safeguarding partners. Our full safeguarding policy can be found here. If you have any concerns, please check your safeguarding point of contact in your welcome email.

Lessons start from £75/hour but the exact rate will be discussed with our client services manager, depending on the age of your child, the subjects and other circumstances.

Payment is processed at the end of each month by invoice. There is an option to purchase lessons in blocks up front, which can be discussed with our client services manager.

If cancelling a lesson, we ask for a minimum of 24 hours notice to avoid being charged, but we do understand that children can become unwell and being charged is at the discretion of the tutor.
