Head of Primary Tuition
Lauren Parcell is Head of Primary Tuition at Dukes Tutoring. At the heart of the relationship between families and our tutors, Lauren carefully guides and monitors each student’s development as they work towards their academic and school-entry ambitions. She graduated from the University of Roehampton in 2013 with a degree in Primary Education and has since built an extensive and varied teaching career across EYFS, KS1, KS2 and KS3 in both state and independent schools throughout London, Surrey and Berkshire. Since 2016, Lauren has specialised in tutoring pupils for entrance examinations, with a particular emphasis on preparing candidates for 11+ assessments for independent schools. Deeply committed to supporting children in every aspect of their learning, she has also worked closely with pupils with SEN, including those educated at home.
Lauren’s academic interests centre on science and sustainability; she has served as Head of Science in three schools and has taken a leading role in developing pupils’ environmental awareness through the creation and management of successful eco-clubs.
Favourite book: George’s Marvelous Medicine
Lauren would recommend this book to KS1-KS2 children because it is a funny and imaginative story that sparks creativity and curiosity. Roald Dahl’s playful writing and George’s wild ideas make the book exciting and full of surprises. It also encourages children to explore the power of imagination and to think outside the box, something which I feel is an important lifelong skill.
