4+ Mock Assessment
Designed to gently introduce young children to the experience of school assessments in a calm, supportive environment, this session mirrors the kinds of tasks used in real 4+ evaluations, helping families gain insight into their child’s school readiness. You’ll receive personalised feedback highlighting your child’s strengths and any areas for development. This assessment is split in two sections, a group activity and a 30 minute individual assessment.

7+ Group Mock Interview
This small-group session gives children the chance to experience the types of activities often used in real 7+ assessments. In a supportive and structured setting, they’ll take part in tasks designed to assess listening, speaking, cooperation and reasoning skills. The session helps build familiarity and confidence ahead of interview season.

The workshop will cover English – comprehension, writing and dictation, Maths – multi step word problems, techniques and strategies.
The 7+ / 8+ exams are fast approaching, and many students are working hard to prepare for these entrance exams. Dukes Tutoring are providing a morning Booster Workshop for Year 2 / 3 children who will be sitting entrance exams over the next few months. Children will have the opportunity to hone their exam skills while consolidating their English and maths knowledge. The morning will be full of fun and engaging activities and will also provide the students with lots of exam tips to help them perform to the best of their ability on the day.

In this session, Year 6 students take part in a range of group-based tasks that mirror the real interview, encouraging collaboration, communication and critical thinking. This will be followed by a written report outlining strengths and areas for development.

11+ / 13+ Creative Comprehension Workshop
The Creative Comprehension course is relevant to all 11+ and 13+ students who will be siting an exam with source-based questions, not necessarily based on a traditional text. Many schools already include Creative Comprehension in their exam and other schools are increasingly using source-based questions to assess a child’s ability to analyse and use critical thinking.
This exciting course will focus on reading, analysing and extracting information from a wide range of different sources such as pictures, statistics, graphs, maps and posters as well as a range of different texts where they will have to make links between the information shown and consider the evidence. This course will help to actively prepare your child.
The 2-hour workshop will be thematic and consist of 2 parts. Firstly, the introductory session will consist of looking at a wide range of sources, with a teacher modelling pertinent techniques and strategies and through group interaction, interpret and analyse the information. The second session will be focused on a completely different theme with different sources, where students have to use the strategies and techniques taught to answer a wide range of questions, explaining their thought processes and evidence.

11+ Talk & Individual Interviews
This individual mock interview is ideal for Year 6 students preparing for independent school interviews. The session starts with a one hour group talk by Head of Dukes Tutoring, Tania Virdie. Followed by 30 minute individual interview. The session is led by an experienced interviewer mirroring the real format, including common question types, discussion prompts and opportunities to demonstrate independent thinking. It’s a valuable chance to practise speaking under pressure and build confidence. This will be followed by a written report outlining strengths and areas for development.
