“I have taught and tutored Maths and Physics for 15 years and Computer Science for the last five years, working across a wide range of settings from state and independent schools in the UK to British international schools in Spain and Thailand. I believe all students want to succeed, but many simply need guidance with the skills and methods needed to achieve their full potential. This is where my experience as a teacher, former head of department and examiner for two exam boards adds great value to our tutoring sessions. I have also prepared students for entrance exams at 11+, 13+ and 16+ and as an Oxford alumni myself, I have also helped with application and interview preparation for Oxbridge candidates. Outside of teaching and tutoring, I love to travel and have visited over 60 countries, with a few more still on my bucket list!”
Qualifications
- University of Oxford, MSc – Learning and Teaching
- University of Leeds, PGCE – Physics
- University of Warwick, BSc (Hons)- Physics including mathematics and business studies

“I have been teaching chemistry for over 30 years, with most of that time as head of department in a large mixed secondary school. I am very familiar with the AQA, OCR and Edexcel exam boards and also have a lot of experience preparing students for tests beyond A Level such as the Cambridge Chemistry Challenge and the RSC Chemistry Olympiad. For several years I was part of the AQA A Level practical exam writing team. As a sixth form tutor I helped countless students with their UCAS applications and am more than happy to give advice on the writing of personal statements, particularly those for medicine and other courses that require science A Levels. I put a lot of effort into preparing individual lessons for my tutees and welcome the opportunity to set and assess extra work for my students if so desired. I have a huge bank of resources gathered over my teaching career to help students understand and revise this challenging subject. I absolutely love teaching chemistry and see it as a privilege to be able to work alongside students to allow them to gain the confidence and skills necessary to achieve their own success. ”

I have also written revision resources for specialist education platforms, including Save My Exams, and was Editor for the Wilberforce Society’s policy paper on The Future of Online Education. I have a degree in Theology, Religion and Philosophy of Religion from the University of Cambridge and have taught students in the UK, Hong Kong and Laos. “I am an experienced mathematics tutor with over twenty years of teaching across GCSE, iGCSE, A Level, Further Mathematics, a wide range of school entrance exams, and university mathematics admissions tests. I hold a PhD in Mathematics, a PGCE, Advanced Skills Teacher (AST) status, and national leadership qualifications (NPQSL and NPQLTD). I have a strong record of helping students make rapid, often transformational progress, and I specialise in building confidence through clear explanations and a supportive, question-friendly approach. Alongside tutoring, I have recently worked for the DfE-funded Advanced Mathematics Support Programme, where I trained teachers and delivered workshops on university admissions tests, applications and interview preparation. Outside of work, I enjoy time outdoors, especially with my four grown up children who are now at university.”

FAQs
Advanced Level qualifications, commonly known as A Levels, are subject-based qualifications that open to university, further study, training or employment. Typically taken over two years, students usually study three or more A Levels, and assessment is primarily through examinations.
To enrol in A Levels, students generally need at least five GCSEs at grades 9 to 4/A* to C, with a minimum grade 6 in the specific subjects they wish to study. However, requirements may vary between schools and colleges. A Levels are suitable for those considering university, as many higher education courses require specific A Levels or combinations thereof.
An A Level tutor is not essential for every student, but it can be extremely valuable in the right circumstances. If you are struggling with specific topics, finding it hard to keep up with the pace of lessons, or aiming for top grades to meet competitive university offers, a tutor can provide targeted, one-to-one support that is difficult to achieve in a classroom setting.
Tutors can work with you regularly throughout your A Levels to ensure you keep up with the curriculum, or provide a short-term programme of tutoring in the run-up to exams focused on revision, exam technique, and addressing key areas of weakness.
Our tutors are graduates of leading universities with years of tutoring experience and a proven track record of improving students’ grades. We personally match each student with the tutor who best fits their personality, learning style, and requirements.
This depends on the student’s starting point and goals. Our tutors support both students early in their A Level journey, or those who need a final push in the weeks and months before exams.
