Louisa

Louisa Dixon is Head of Primary Tuition at Dukes Tutoring. With over a decade of experience in both leading independent schools and delivering bespoke private tuition, Louisa is an experienced primary educator specialising in Early Years, Key Stage 1 and lower Key Stage 2. She has worked with children aged 4-13 across state and leading independent schools, supporting pupils and families with academic progress, school readiness, 4+, 7+ and 11+ preparation, and personalised learning programmes. She has extensive knowledge of both the grammar and independent school sectors, guiding families through every stage of the admissions journey from Early Years through to 11+.

Before joining Dukes Tutoring, Louisa held senior leadership positions at Thomas’s Clapham, including Head of Key Stage 1 and Assistant Head (Head of Lower School). She led the academic and pastoral development of over 250 pupils and more than 25 staff, with responsibility for curriculum development, teaching and learning, safeguarding, admissions, parent partnerships and whole-school improvement initiatives. She has significant experience coaching and mentoring teachers, leading professional development and quality assuring teaching across large teams. Her collaborative yet rigorous approach enables educators to continually refine their practice and deliver consistently high standards for pupils.

Alongside her role as Head of Primary Tuition, Louisa is Dukes’ EYFS Education Consultant, leading the development of the 4+ provision. She works closely with families to support the school entry process, helping them to navigate this important milestone while ensuring children develop the strong academic, social and emotional foundations needed to flourish from the very start of their educational journey. She also collaborates with colleagues across Dukes Tutoring to ensure tutors have the training, resources and expertise to deliver effective, engaging learning experiences.

Louisa has also been a successful private tutor for many years, designing personalised learning programmes for children with a wide range of needs. She has supported pupils preparing for competitive school entry, developed specialist provision for children with SEND, and helped children build confidence, independence and a genuine enthusiasm for learning. She believes the strongest outcomes come from nurturing curiosity, resilience and a lifelong love of learning.

Louisa began her career through the Teach First Leadership Development Programme, completing her PGCE at the UCL Institute of Education. She holds a First Class BA (Hons) from the University of Bristol. Passionate about educational research and continual professional development, she has undertaken extensive leadership training in metacognition, behaviour, safeguarding, Early Years assessment, autism and school improvement, ensuring her approach remains grounded in evidence-informed practice.

Combining extensive school leadership with years of tutoring experience, Louisa is passionate about ensuring every child receives exceptional teaching tailored to their individual strengths and needs. She is committed to supporting tutors as educational professionals, building strong partnerships with families and creating learning experiences that inspire confidence, curiosity and long-term success.

Its gentle wisdom and timeless reflections on courage, kindness and self-belief perfectly capture the values Louisa strives to bring to education.
