Puzzles and Problem Solving Course 11+

From tricky puzzles to confident problem-solving

Challenging, multi-step problem solving questions are found on nearly every 11+ exam – but children do not learn the techniques needed to excel at school. Our course will help them master these question types and stand out to senior schools.

Students will explore various question types and formats across subjects like maths, reasoning, and logic while learning techniques and appropriate strategies for solving them. We use realistic 11+ puzzles and problem solving questions as examples to help children get used to what they may face in their real 11+.
We also teach methods for managing feelings of panic on exam day, ensuring your child can sit their exams feeling well prepared and confident.

Many schools include puzzles and problem solving questions as part of their 11+ assessment process. Our experience is that children are routinely underprepared for these questions as the skills are often not taught in school.
This course helps children prepare to answer challenging puzzles and problem solving questions under exam conditions. We teach effective step-by-step methods for approaching these questions and exam technique to ensure they score as many marks as possible.

It depends on the school that you are applying to. Some schools have separate stand alone puzzles and logic tests, whereas others integrate it into their maths paper. Our Head of Primary Tuition will be happy to discuss what your child should expect depending on their school applications.

This course can be run 1-1 online or in a group class environment at Dukes House. Have a look at our Upcoming Events page to see when the next group date is. If you would rather book a 1-1 course, you can do so any time by calling 020 3488 0754 or emailing info@dukestutoring.com.

They supported her academically, but she also enjoyed the tutoring sessions. The quick progress she made especially in writing was impressive. It surprised her and gave her so much confidence. She has passed the entrance exam for the schools we applied for.
