Adriana

Hello! I have been teaching for over ten years, and it has been a wonderful journey. I started my career as an educator in South East Asia, where I worked in specialist English language centres in Vietnam and Malaysia. Since October 2017, I have worked principally with students in Key Stages 3-5 at a wide variety of levels and with diverse language learning goals. I returned to the UK in 2021, and have since taught English as an Additional Language, IELTS, and English for Academic Purposes in the Independent Schools sector. I love working with international students, and have taught learners from Asia, Africa, Europe and North America. My teaching style is focused, creative, supportive and engaging; I work hard to build a strong rapport with my learners and to ensure I empower them to achieve their aims. It matters to me to gain a deep understanding of my learners’ motivations and areas of challenge; I am happy to have an initial, exploratory conversation to assess the extent to which I can best partner your child on their learning journey. As you might expect, I am passionate about language and languages! My mother tongue is English, but I am fluent in Italian and have a working knowledge of French too. Naturally, I am also an avid reader. Finally, I have a deep interest in art and the arts, and, when I have the time to, I adore cooking and baking.

Experience

Adriana has over a decade’s experience in a wide range of educational settings, and has a long history of working with students on a one-to-one basis. She transitioned into teaching after a long career with Thomson Reuters, Legal Europe, and has not looked back. Adriana’s career in Education started in Northern Vietnam, where she worked for Language Link Academic. During her tenure, Adriana was awarded Best Teacher in recognition of her work in Hanoi’s Cau Giay Centre. Adriana then moved to Malaysia, where she worked as an English Language Teacher at Enhance Education. Adriana was part of Enhance’s first teaching team when they expanded into Kuala Lumpur, and then went on to work in their Tanjung Tokong centre in Penang. While in Malaysia, Adriana planned and delivered myriad successful lessons. Adriana also prepared and delivered a teacher training session to her colleagues across all three Enhance sites in Penang. She achieved a Distinction in her PCGEi whilst teaching with Enhance during the Covid-19 Pandemic. Adriana returned to the UK in 2021 to take up the position of Teacher of English as an Additional Language and Resident Tutor at Queenswood School, Hertfordshire. She then secured a full-time position at St Francis’ College, Hertfordshire, where Adriana taught Pearson Edexcel International GCSE English as a Second Language and Cambridge International GCSE English as a Second Language classes. She also has some experience of the Cambridge IGCSE English as an Additional Language specification. In Key Stage 3, Adriana taught highly tailored General English language classes, and in Key Stage 5 she taught IELTS. In 2025, Adriana accepted a job offer at Cardiff Sixth Form College, Cambridge. There, she taught English for Academic Purposes and IELTS, and devised and organised the College’s inaugural Interhouse Debate Competition. This formed a key element of the College’s 2025 Summer Term Enrichment Programme. Adriana is excited to be starting a new phase in her career as an educator.
