Alberta

I am a Primary Teacher and SENDCo with extensive experience creating inclusive, engaging learning environments where every child feels able to succeed. My teaching philosophy is rooted in supporting autonomy: I want students to feel confident to take ownership of their learning, understand what they are doing and why, and make progress through the right level of challenge and support. I model actively during lessons—demonstrating language, thinking and expected behaviours—then I guide students to practise independently. To consolidate learning, I regularly use “teach back”, encouraging children to explain their reasoning and what they have learned in their own words. When appropriate, I also use play-based approaches to make learning motivating, especially in the younger stages. I have a strong focus on literacy and language development, and I genuinely enjoy inspiring a love of reading. I love selecting books that suit each child’s interests and confidence level, and I have a reputation for helping even the biggest “I don’t like reading” student to find a book they enjoy. I also build confidence through structured preparation, including for competitive entrance exams. I support learners in exam-focused tutoring in a way that goes beyond “teaching to the test”: I ensure children develop firm foundations, effective strategies and deep understanding across 4+, 7+ and 11+ style question types, with adjustments for neurodiversity and SEND where needed.

Experience

Alberta is a professional educator with extensive experience as a Primary Teacher, SENDCo, and inclusive learning specialist, with a strong track record of developing literacy-focused, student-centred environments. She has demonstrated leadership experience across multiple educational settings, including the opening of a new nurturing primary setting in West London for the TCES Group, where she designed curriculum, policies and learning environments to support wellbeing, inclusion, and a play-based approach that promotes literacy and numeracy. Prior to this, Alberta worked as a Self- Employed Teacher, Tutor, and Content Creator at LaidLaw Education, supporting learners through tailored teaching and SEND-informed strategies. She also served as SENDCo at St Jerome Primary School in London, where she developed and implemented inclusive strategies, collaborated with teachers and external agencies to create individualised learning plans, and provided training on differentiation and best practices to ensure progress was closely monitored. Alberta previously worked as a Y2 Class Teacher and Assessment Lead at Leman International School in Chengdu, China, where she led assessment strategies to improve outcomes and supported diverse learning needs through differentiated instruction. She continued this inclusive, literacy-led practice at Acton Gardens Primary School in London, where she promoted reading for pleasure and implemented effective support for neurodivergent learners in a nurturing environment. Her teaching experience also includes roles as Reception Class Teacher at Acton Gardens Primary School; Y4 Class Teacher at St Paul’s Primary School, Brentford; and Y2/Y3 primary teaching roles across London. She has further contributed to language-focused education through teaching Spanish and Italian to GCSE and A Level learners online with Oxford Online School, providing personalised support aimed at exam success. In addition to classroom teaching, Alberta has experience supporting learners through tutoring across primary to A-Level, and through prior roles including Teaching Assistant and One-to-One Autism Support Teaching Assistant positions. She has also worked internationally in education and language teaching, including as a Spanish and French Teacher in Italy, strengthening her ability to teach languages and support learners with different backgrounds.
