After more than 15 years teaching Economics at leading UK and international independent schools I now specialise in online tutoring for sixth form students. My lessons are tailored to each student's individual needs and typically focus on strengthening conceptual understanding, addressing misconceptions and refining examination technique. Alongside developing subject knowledge, my approach focuses on the key skills that examiners consistently reward. These include crafting clear analytical chains of reasoning, refining evaluative essay structures, strengthening quantitative skills, ensuring precision in diagrams and connecting economic theory to contemporary real-world applications. Beyond technical mastery, I aim to instil genuine confidence, foster curiosity and enjoyment, and develop a lasting appreciation for Economics that extends well beyond the examination hall and into university studies and future careers. What I enjoy most is the moment when a student says, "Yes... but surely...?" because that is when I know they have really started to think like an economist.

Carl Fisher is a specialist Economics tutor with over 15 years' experience teaching in leading UK and international independent schools. He has held leadership positions as Head of Economics and Business at Rugby School and Head of Economics and Finance at Benenden School before delivering the IB Diploma Programme (HL and SL) at the International School of Milan. Originally trained as a Teacher of Mathematics and Economics at Colchester Royal Grammar School, Carl combines exceptional subject knowledge with extensive pastoral experience gained as a boarding House Tutor. Throughout his career, Carl has consistently achieved outstanding examination results, including helping students secure 100% UMS, guiding departments to record-breaking outcomes and achieving 96% A*/A grades at A Level. His students have gone on to study at many of the world's leading universities, including Brown, Cambridge, Columbia, Harvard, Imperial College London, LSE, New York University, Oxford, UCLA and UCL.
