Experience

Karina is an experienced primary teacher and professional tutor who has been teaching since 2007. She graduated from the University of Winchester with a BA (Hons) in Primary Education with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), specialising in the Early Years. She has taught primarily across the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, and has also supported pupils in Key Stage 3 and specialist SEND settings through supply teaching. Throughout her career, she has worked in infant schools, primary schools, nurseries and as a supply teacher, giving her extensive experience of supporting children with a wide range of abilities and learning needs. Alongside her classroom teaching, Karina has been Subject Leader for PSHE, ICT, Music and Religious Education (RE), leading curriculum development, supporting colleagues and promoting high-quality teaching and learning across the school. Since 2020, Karina has provided personalised one-to-one and small-group tuition in English and Maths. She is passionate about tailoring lessons to each child's individual needs, helping them build confidence while making excellent academic progress. She prides herself on developing strong relationships with both pupils and their families, working closely with parents to support every child's learning journey. For several years, Karina has also taught online for an international virtual school, delivering engaging lessons to pupils from around the world. She teaches online classes of up to ten pupils alongside one-to-one tuition and has extensive experience creating interactive online lessons while maintaining clear and supportive communication with parents. She has taught children from a wide range of countries, cultures and educational backgrounds, enabling her to adapt her teaching to meet the needs of diverse learners and build positive relationships with families across the world. Karina's specialist areas are phonics, English and early literacy. She has extensive experience teaching early reading, reading comprehension, grammar, spelling and punctuation, and is passionate about giving children the strong literacy foundations they need for lifelong success. Her nurturing, personalised approach helps children become confident, independent learners who enjoy learning. Karina has extensive experience preparing pupils for national assessments. She administered the Year 1 Phonics Screening Check annually from its introduction in 2012 until 2019 and has marked Key Stage 2 SATs for Pearson, giving her an excellent understanding of national assessment standards and the skills pupils need to succeed.
