Lily

I am a fully qualified teacher (QTS, University of Roehampton) with over ten years’ experience in independent schools, most recently at The Hall Junior School, Belsize Park. I have extensive experience teaching in Early Years and Key Stage 1, including delivering targeted phonics and maths interventions to support strong foundational learning. I recently completed a Level 5 qualification in Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLD) at Fairley House School, which has deepened my understanding of supporting pupils with dyslexia and other additional needs. I now work as a 1:1 tutor, providing personalised support to help children build confidence and make meaningful progress. My teaching approach is calm, patient, and child-centred. I believe every child learns differently, so I tailor my lessons to suit each individual, creating a supportive and engaging environment where they feel safe to take risks and ask questions. I am a strong advocate of play-based learning and use a variety of interactive and practical activities to keep lessons enjoyable while reinforcing key skills. I focus on building strong foundations in reading, writing, and maths, while also encouraging independence and a positive attitude towards learning. I take pride in helping children grow in confidence and supporting them to reach their full potential.

Experience

Lily Lee is a professional tutor with over 10 years’ experience teaching in independent schools in London. She began her teaching career at Eaton House The Manor School in Clapham, where she developed strong expertise in Early Years and Key Stage 1, with a particular focus on building solid foundations in phonics, reading, writing, and mathematics. She later joined The Hall Junior School in Belsize Park, where she taught for 10 years. During her time there, she further developed her classroom practice and played an active role in the 4+ assessment process. This involved meeting prospective pupils, assessing their readiness, and supporting the school identify children who would thrive in its environment. Through this experience, she gained valuable insight into early admissions processes and the expectations of selective independent schools. Alongside her classroom experience, she has completed a Level 5 qualification in Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLD), enhancing her ability to support pupils with dyslexia and other additional needs. She now works as a 1:1 tutor, providing tailored support to help children build confidence and make meaningful academic progress. Her teaching combines strong academic foundations with a nurturing, child-centred approach, ensuring that each pupil is supported in achieving their full potential.
