Nadia K

I have been tutoring since I was 16, and over the past eight years it has grown into a profession I care deeply about. My experience has spanned tutoring centres such as Explore Learning, classroom based teaching through The Tutor Trust and private 1:1 tuition, preparing students for the 11+ and 13+ entrance exams. Working across these different settings has shaped the way I teach. From Explore Learning, I developed a strong grounding in structured Maths and English tuition, assessment led planning and clear communication with parents. Through The Tutor Trust, I worked within primary and secondary schools, including KS3 and GCSE English, which strengthened my understanding of the national curriculum, classroom dynamics and how to support pupils with different learning needs. Alongside this, I have spent several years specialising in 11+ and 13+ preparation, supporting students applying to a mixture of grammar and independent schools across Surrey, London and Manchester. These include schools such as Epsom College, Eton, Latymer, Marlborough, Queen Elizabeth’s, Tiffin, and Trafford grammar schools, amongst others. Each preparation journey is different, and I tailor my approach carefully depending on the school and the child.

Experience

Nadia has been tutoring since the age of 16 and over the past nine years, she has developed tutoring into a profession that she deeply cares about. Her experience spans structured tuition at Explore Learning, classroom based teaching through The Tutor Trust, and specialist 11+ and 13+ preparation in private settings across Surrey, London and Manchester. Working across these different environments has given Nadia both strong curriculum knowledge and a flexible, highly personalised approach to teaching. Nadia teaches English, Maths, Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning from KS1 through to KS3, alongside GCSE English Language and Literature. She specialise in preparing pupils for GL, ISEB and CEM entrance examinations, as well as school-specific assessments. However, her focus is never solely on the exam itself. She always begins with a thorough initial assessment. This allows her to identify not only academic gaps, but patterns in confidence, pacing and question approach. From there, she designs a structured, tailored plan outlining exactly what needs to be covered. Her lessons are purposeful and carefully sequenced, embedding exam technique from the outset rather than leaving it until the end. Alongside bespoke tutoring, she frequently use platforms such as Atom Learning. She values the AI-driven analytics, which allows her to track progress precisely and identify smaller gaps that might otherwise be missed. However, she see platforms as a tool to enhance thoughtful tutoring rather than replace it. Weekly homework is set strategically to consolidate learning and build independence and she maintains regular check ins with parents to ensure transparency around progress, strengths and areas for improvement. Nadia places a strong emphasis on vocabulary development, spelling and usage within her English lessons. She regularly recommends reading lists that stretch pupils slightly beyond their comfort zone, encouraging them to engage with richer language and more complex ideas. Alongside this, she works consistently on spelling, punctuation and grammar exercises, as well as structured writing frameworks, to ensure that accuracy and clarity develop alongside creativity. Her aim is for pupils to feel confident not only in answering exam questions but also in expressing themselves clearly and precisely. She has experience supporting pupils with ADHD and dyslexia, adapting pacing, structure and presentation accordingly. She approaches this with a reflective mindset, continually assessing which strategies are most effective for each child. Nadia prioritises clarity, consistency and manageable steps, refining her approach to best support individual learning needs. While she prepares students thoroughly for 11+ and 13+ entrance exams and GCSE assessments, Nadia’s approach is broader in scope. She aims to help pupils develop independence, resilience and ownership of their learning. For students who would benefit from continued support, she often works with them beyond entrance exams to ensure they are fully prepared for the transition to senior school, both academically and in terms of confidence. Alongside her tutoring, Nadia is currently completing legal training with the intention of qualifying as a corporate or business lawyer. This academic journey has strengthened her analytical thinking, structured writing and attention to detail, all of which enhance her teaching practice. Overall, Nadia aims to create lessons in which pupils feel supported, challenged and capable, building not only exam success but also long-term confidence and intellectual curiosity.
