I am a highly experienced primary educator with over 20 years of teaching experience and a former Assistant Headteacher, combining high expectations with a nurturing, child-centred approach to ensure every child feels valued, supported and empowered in their learning. I take a truly personalised approach, getting to know each child I teach so that sessions are tailored to their individual needs. Having been educated in leading international and boarding schools myself, I bring a deep understanding of academic expectations and offer expert, considered guidance to both pupils and families. With experience as a SENCO, I support a wide range of abilities, including pupils with dyslexia and SEND, through clear modelling, scaffolding and structured routines that keep learning accessible while maintaining high expectations. I see tutoring as an opportunity to build trust, support pupils through challenges and celebrate progress, ensuring lessons are engaging, purposeful and tailored to promote confidence, independence and a love of learning.

Experience

Sandy has over 20 years of primary teaching experience, including nine years as Assistant Headteacher in a Primary School, where she also worked as SENCO, English and Assessment lead. As a former Assistant Headteacher, Sandy coached and mentored teachers, building expert knowledge of curriculum and teaching excellence. She now applies this experience to her tutoring in Phonics, English and Maths from Early Years through to Key Stage 2, delivering bespoke, carefully structured sessions aligned with each pupil's academic profile and aspirations. She has supported many primary-aged pupils from diverse educational backgrounds, developing fluent readers, articulate and technically accurate writers and confident mathematical thinkers, ensuring sustained progress and measurable outcomes.
