"I have 5 years of experience working as a primary school teacher and 8 years experience with tutoring. I tutor students from a variety of backgrounds and have been able to bond with them by learning about their interests and using that as a way to teach. If a student has a hobby such as playing sports, playing an instrument or reading, I like to discuss that with them at the beginning of each class as this shows that their interests and passions are important too and not something they have to ignore in order to progress academically. I make myself available to parents who want to talk to me either in or outside of class hours about anything concerning their child’s development and emotional well-being. As the curriculums children learn are vast, they often forget things they have learned before, so I like to go back to previous topics and make sure that students are able to recall how to tackle topics that have been covered before, and having the ability to teach these subjects to their parents by setting questions for them is a great way to consolidate knowledge. I teach all four of the core 11+ subjects, with a particular passion for making maths subjects understandable to each child in an individualised manner, using a variety of methods that help them with creative writing and answering tough comprehension questions in ways that will guarantee them full marks. I use a variety of materials such as Bond online, ATOM and textbooks so set homework does not feel repetitive for children."

"I have worked in international education for ten years, with six of these as a Head of Department. During this time I have gained experience with IBDP, iGCSE and A Levels curricula and exams. I have worked with students from 13-18, although I have focused mainly on the 16-18 age group, teaching small classes that have prepared me well for tutoring. Indeed, my last school began as a tutoring college, and this philosophy and environment have shaped my pedagogical approach. In teaching languages I believe that interactivity should be the main component of lessons, and I have taken courses on gamification. Furthermore, in order to make lessons more engaging and to increase their real world relevance I integrate as much cultural material as possible. Fundamentally, I recognize the importance of both extensive structured practice and grammatical analysis and believe that linguistic success is best achieved through combining these two pillars."

"I am a Primary Teacher and SENDCo with extensive experience creating inclusive, engaging learning environments where every child feels able to succeed. My teaching philosophy is rooted in supporting autonomy: I want students to feel confident to take ownership of their learning, understand what they are doing and why, and make progress through the right level of challenge and support. I model actively during lessons—demonstrating language, thinking and expected behaviours—then I guide students to practise independently. To consolidate learning, I regularly use “teach back”, encouraging children to explain their reasoning and what they have learned in their own words. When appropriate, I also use play-based approaches to make learning motivating, especially in the younger stages. I have a strong focus on literacy and language development, and I genuinely enjoy inspiring a love of reading. I love selecting books that suit each child’s interests and confidence level, and I have a reputation for helping even the biggest “I don’t like reading” student to find a book they enjoy. I also build confidence through structured preparation, including for competitive entrance exams. I support learners in exam-focused tutoring in a way that goes beyond “teaching to the test”: I ensure children develop firm foundations, effective strategies and deep understanding across 4+, 7+ and 11+ style question types, with adjustments for neurodiversity and SEND where needed."
