"In July 2022, I took early retirement from full time classroom teaching, following 30 years of MFL teaching in London secondary schools. I have taught French and German from beginners to advanced level, including IB diploma (higher) as well as ab initio. I have also taught Italian GCSE. I have also taught adult learners, both beginners and advanced. I am fully up to speed with the requirements of the main exam boards for French and German GCSE and A level, including the syllabus for the new MFL GCSE for 2026. I have a range of relevant and stimulating materials for the successful delivery of MFL tuition at all levels. I pride myself on being a very patient, empathetic and calm teacher. "I have been a secondary school MFL teacher for 4 years and a tutor of students aged 3-74 from around the world for over 10 years. I am skilled in developing students' analytical reading, critical thinking, academic writing, and communication through evidence-informed practice and engaging lessons. I am experienced at teaching KS3 and KS4 English in school settings and supporting students to achieve strong outcomes in KS3 and KS4. "I have worked in international education for ten years, with six of these as a Head of Department. During this time I have gained experience with IBDP, iGCSE and A Levels curricula and exams. I have worked with students from 13-18, although I have focused mainly on the 16-18 age group, teaching small classes that have prepared me well for tutoring. Indeed, my last school began as a tutoring college, and this philosophy and environment have shaped my pedagogical approach. In teaching languages I believe that interactivity should be the main component of lessons, and I have taken courses on gamification. Furthermore, in order to make lessons more engaging and to increase their real world relevance I integrate as much cultural material as possible. Fundamentally, I recognize the importance of both extensive structured practice and grammatical analysis and believe that linguistic success is best achieved through combining these two pillars."

"Hello! I have been teaching for over ten years, and it has been a wonderful journey. I started my career as an educator in South East Asia, where I worked in specialist English language centres in Vietnam and Malaysia. Since October 2017, I have worked principally with students in Key Stages 3-5 at a wide variety of levels and with diverse language learning goals. I returned to the UK in 2021, and have since taught English as an Additional Language, IELTS, and English for Academic Purposes in the Independent Schools sector. I love working with international students, and have taught learners from Asia, Africa, Europe and North America. My teaching style is focused, creative, supportive and engaging; I work hard to build a strong rapport with my learners and to ensure I empower them to achieve their aims. It matters to me to gain a deep understanding of my learners’ motivations and areas of challenge; I am happy to have an initial, exploratory conversation to assess the extent to which I can best partner your child on their learning journey. As you might expect, I am passionate about language and languages! My mother tongue is English, but I am fluent in Italian and have a working knowledge of French too. Naturally, I am also an avid reader. Finally, I have a deep interest in art and the arts, and, when I have the time to, I adore cooking and baking."
