"I have been a primary school teacher since 2013 and I specialise in teaching English and maths, up to GCSE level. Although I teach in a state primary school, I tutor students across a wide range of private sector schools and have plenty of experience in preparing students for 11+, 13+ and GCSE assessments. I am often praised for my patience and understanding with students, having worked with SEN students and pride myself in adopting an inclusive approach, tailored to each student. One of my proven strengths has been to set high expectations which simultaneously motivate and challenge pupils to reach their absolute potential. I have accomplished this by establishing a safe learning environment that promotes equal opportunities and highlights the importance of mutual respect in which children must practice between themselves and their tutors alike. I have a strong ability to make accurate and productive use of assessments. I regularly assess children’s work against national benchmarks and provide pupils with individual targets and strategies for support and guidance. I believe that verbal communication plays a crucial role in education and I use every opportunity to implement this as a tool for learning during teaching and as a formative means of assessment. The evaluative feedback I have received renders this methodology as one of my most successful strategies for improving levels of achievement. I have therefore acknowledged this as a fundamental two way process linked to successful learning in providing the opportunity for children to self-assess and set targets for future progress. My teaching experience has taught me the important value of a positive attitude and a calm approach; such dynamic characteristics are necessary in achieving deserved respect as a teacher and role model for the children. "I have been a secondary school MFL teacher for 4 years and a tutor of students aged 3-74 from around the world for over 10 years. I am skilled in developing students' analytical reading, critical thinking, academic writing, and communication through evidence-informed practice and engaging lessons. I am experienced at teaching KS3 and KS4 English in school settings and supporting students to achieve strong outcomes in KS3 and KS4. Tutoring, for me, goes beyond academic success; it is concerned often with mentorship, nurture, and personal goal setting. The magic of tutoring lies in its potential for truly tailored content, working with a student’s specific interests and making them feel heard. In such a way, SEN is an opportunity for me to evolve my own practice: never a one-size-fits-all approach. Expert subject knowledge and responsiveness to learner needs are at the core of my tutoring; I am always ready to adapt the pace of the lesson to adjust the level of challenge. Likewise, a profound knowledge of language and linguistics from my time at Oxford has proven vital in my years as a tutor, especially in tutoring phonics and the 11+ for international students. Students often remark on how engaging and dynamic my lessons are, and how much information is retained as a result. My extensive travel, as well as my approachability, has enabled me to foster long-term relationships built on trust and results. I lead by example as a lifelong reader to foster intellectual curiosity, confidence, and a love of reading."

"With over 25 years of experience in education as a teacher, Headteacher, SENCo and Inclusion Adviser, I bring a wealth of expertise to my tutoring. My goal is not only to help children achieve outstanding academic results, but also to nurture their confidence, independence and love of learning. I am passionate about helping children achieve their full potential and always strive to make lessons engaging, enjoyable and rewarding. At the same time, I maintain high academic expectations and use lesson time effectively to ensure every child makes excellent progress. There is nothing more rewarding than watching a student flourish, gain confidence and develop a strong belief in their own abilities. My success as a tutor stem from my ability to build strong relationships with children and their families. I am kind, patient and empathetic, and I recognise that every child learns differently. For this reason, I create a personalised learning programme tailored to each pupil's individual strengths, needs and aspirations, while ensuring lessons remain dynamic, challenging and academically rigorous. "Over the 10 years of my teaching career, I have experience teaching and tutoring all three sciences up to GCSE and biology to A Level. I have worked in both state and private secondary schools and managed two KS3 science teams. I began tutoring in 2021, starting online during lockdown and then in-person shortly after. I have tutored students with a range of abilities, supporting students reach their target grades and above in GCSE and A Level. In just six lessons, a student turned their D grade into a B; and a student who found science challenging, came away with the highest possible grade at foundation level GCSE. The resources I use in my lessons are clear and concise, explaining complex ideas with simple images and minimal text. Teaching segments are chunked with regular assessment which build students' confidence. I model exam-style questions for, then alongside, my students. We build up to independent practice that familiarises students with questions asked in assessments and makes examinations less daunting. Tutoring has allowed me to support students 1-1 and watch them flourish. I enjoy building strong relationships and using methods most suited to the learner. It is rewarding to see students grasp a subject I feel passionate about and make invaluable progress towards their goals. Outside teaching and tutoring, I mark AQA, GCSE and OCR A Level examination papers, giving me first-hand insight into exactly what examiners are looking for and what students need to do to achieve the highest marks. This examiner experience informs every lesson I teach. I regularly incorporate exam-style questions and exam technique throughout the learning process and find by exposing students to exam questions from the outset, they become familiar with the style, language, and expectations of the assessments, making exams feel far less daunting and ensuring they are as prepared and confident as possible."

My role goes beyond helping students grasp complicated content, focusing primarily in providing a safe space for them to make mistakes, ask questions, gain curiosity and ultimately build their personal confidence. I make sure that my students have a deep understanding of the subject, focusing on explaining why things are how they are. I thoroughly enjoy helping students through their University Application and 16+ journey, always trying to engage in thought provoking conversations and exploring content in greater depth."

"I have 5 years of experience working as a primary school teacher and 8 years experience with tutoring. I tutor students from a variety of backgrounds and have been able to bond with them by learning about their interests and using that as a way to teach. If a student has a hobby such as playing sports, playing an instrument or reading, I like to discuss that with them at the beginning of each class as this shows that their interests and passions are important too and not something they have to ignore in order to progress academically. I make myself available to parents who want to talk to me either in or outside of class hours about anything concerning their child’s development and emotional well-being. As the curriculums children learn are vast, they often forget things they have learned before, so I like to go back to previous topics and make sure that students are able to recall how to tackle topics that have been covered before, and having the ability to teach these subjects to their parents by setting questions for them is a great way to consolidate knowledge. I teach all four of the core 11+ subjects, with a particular passion for making maths subjects understandable to each child in an individualised manner, using a variety of methods that help them with creative writing and answering tough comprehension questions in ways that will guarantee them full marks. I use a variety of materials such as Bond online, ATOM and textbooks so set homework does not feel repetitive for children."
