"I have been a primary teacher for 25 years, most recently in the private sector. I was SENCo/Head of Learning Support for over 15 years and I believe that my SEND experience has made me a better teacher of all children, both neurotypical and neurodiverse. It is important to make a connection with a student, so that they feel emotionally safe and seen during lessons. Research shows that memory retention, focus, and motivation all increase when students feel happy. My lessons have a clear structure and a variety of activities to keep interest levels high, with games and movement breaks incorporated when needed.
