"I have been a primary school teacher for over 30 years, working in state schools across London. I ensure my lessons are pacy and involve a range of active learning tasks. I use Project-Based Learning projects to help transform students' interests into academic excellence and long-term skill development. I empower students through scaffolded instruction by transitioning from direct modelling to independent mastery. I keep students engaged through interactive checkpoints that break down complex topics into manageable chunks. My lessons conclude with an application challenge, turning new knowledge into a skill students can use straight away."

"I possess a Masters Degree in MSc By Research in Analytical Chemistry. My Bachelors Degree is in Applied Chemistry. Both qualifications were achieved at the University of Greenwich, which had the 3rd best Chemistry school in the UK at the time. I have been a private tutor since 2000. I have continued to teach in schools from 2004-2006. This includes being the Head of Mathematics and also Head of Science. My teaching philosophy is to engage and make the student(s) interactive in learning, thus as to meet their individual learning needs. I have developed my own initial assessments(IA), diagnostic assessments(DA), individual learning plans (ILPs), schemes of work(SOW), self review and self reflection. I have even on occasions revisited reviews to ensure learners needs are not only highlighted but also administered. This results in achieving higher grades for the learner. I utilise my spare time by attending educational courses so as to develop and nurture my own educational skills. I ensure all basis of communications are covered ie reading, writing, listening, speaking, gesturing etc. I incorporate active Q&A sessions with learners encouraging communication skills and allowing learners to self develop and blossom, especially in characteristics such as self confidence. I encourage and use Internet tools to aid further independent learning and achievements. All the above, results in successfully attaining higher and acceptable grading for the learners. "

"I am a fully qualified teacher (QTS, University of Roehampton) with over ten years’ experience in independent schools, most recently at The Hall Junior School, Belsize Park. I have extensive experience teaching in Early Years and Key Stage 1, including delivering targeted phonics and maths interventions to support strong foundational learning. I recently completed a Level 5 qualification in Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLD) at Fairley House School, which has deepened my understanding of supporting pupils with dyslexia and other additional needs. I now work as a 1:1 tutor, providing personalised support to help children build confidence and make meaningful progress. My teaching approach is calm, patient, and child-centred. I believe every child learns differently, so I tailor my lessons to suit each individual, creating a supportive and engaging environment where they feel safe to take risks and ask questions. I am a strong advocate of play-based learning and use a variety of interactive and practical activities to keep lessons enjoyable while reinforcing key skills. I focus on building strong foundations in reading, writing, and maths, while also encouraging independence and a positive attitude towards learning. I take pride in helping children grow in confidence and supporting them to reach their full potential."

"I have been a private tutor for over 10 years, beginning as a volunteer in a local SEN provision and going on to work with children, young people, and families internationally. I specialise in English and the humanities, from the building blocks of reading to A level. I aim to create a participatory learning environment where students take an active role in shaping their sessions. Through discussion and collaboration, I find students retain more knowledge and develop a stronger sense of ownership over their learning. I place a strong emphasis on critical thinking, whilst also building the study and organisational skills vital to academic success. I am experienced in supporting a wide range of learners, from those who struggle with traditional education to those with high academic enthusiasm. My studies in child development and educational psychology have supported me to develop effective teaching methods across diverse needs. I have also spent significant time working with families on residential tutoring placements, which have provided me with a unique opportunity to deepen my understanding of holistic education. I frequently incorporate creative and play‑based activities into my sessions, particularly with younger learners or those who benefit from multisensory, movement‑based, or imaginative approaches. I speak several languages and have taught English as a foreign language, and enjoy supporting students for whom English is an additional language. I believe that building confidence, self-efficacy and self-esteem is just as valuable as learning the curriculum and my students finish our sessions with confidence, direction, and purpose - for exams and beyond!"

"I am passionate about Early Years education and believe the foundation stage is pivotal in shaping children’s confidence, curiosity, and lifelong love of learning. I view teachers as “learning springboards,” creating rich, stimulating opportunities that give children the tools to take ownership of their learning, enabling them to flourish. I aim to cultivate environments where children develop independence, resilience, and strong academic foundations in literacy, numeracy, and thinking skills, balanced with purposeful play and exploration. As an EYFS consultant, I provide tailored, play-based guidance for families, helping children build strong early learning foundations while equipping parents and carers to support development at home. Having taught children from Reception to Year 8 (and with two young children of my own!), I combine classroom expertise with leadership experience as Head of Key Stage 1 and Acting Head of Lower School at Thomas’s Clapham."
